My new job is in Philadelphia, which I’ve done before and I know I’ll hate, but that doesn’t make me any less happy about knowing that I’ll never have to buy a $463 NJ Transit ticket again

Clearly you were nowhere near the Tappan Zee, GW, or Lincoln Tunnel yesterday.

The best day at work I ever had was when I, and a couple of coworker, were tasked with finding a venue for a company party. After getting the list down to the one we wanted to try out we, of course, had to sample the food and determine which beers we would serve. It was glorious.

I'd agree, but the day before that, two NJ transit buses crashed in the Lincoln Tunnel during rush hour, so I rest my case

Sounds like a nice premise for a screenplay you’ve got going there.

You can, but I won’t promise that I won’t try to sell them to recoup the cost of three years of buying train passes.

Getting into NY in general is fucking terrible. You however should try NJ Transit for a year and you’ll be begging for that one day of utter chaos on the Tappan Zee... I’ve calculated the rough average of hours spent on NJ transit due to delays over the last 3 years and I’ve come up with 780 hours. That is a full month of my life wasted on delays while sitting on NJ Transit trains...

I know of the one, the lady who drives it lives in Yardly I believe as I’ve see it around town on the occasions I’ve been at the Vault. I give her mad respect for DD’ing it.

I hear ya...but rest assured the other 364 days on the Tappan Zee are not all wine and roses.

(Disclaimer: I was not stuck in traffic yesterday, as I work from home most days. But, I often still drive into and out of NY, as well as to Boston and DC. I also take NJ Transit and the PATH into NY. But, I have the ability to be somewhat flexible with my schedules and choose my mode of transportation based on time of day/weather/etc. And yes, on any given day, they can all still suck. I just find mass transportation to be least sucky on average. YMMV)

I haven’t had a drink in 25 years but before I quit, I lived in Germany and became a beer snob connoisseur. I love the colours of both of those. They definitely look worth trying.

Yea its interesting to see how the brewing process effects the color of each individual beer. Congrats on 25 years of sobriety!

Thank you. It’s a religious thing and a relationship thing. My wife had essentially never taken a drink when we met and I lost interest in drinking once she entered my life. Which is not to say that in the intervening 27 years there haven’t been two or three times where I saw a really interesting beer and wanted to try it.

Yeah. But you would have to limit most people to one or two. Some people cant handle themselves well when booze and work mix.

I freelance part time for a small start-up here in the bay area. They always have a fridge full of beer. While I rarely ever drink anything there, every once and a while we will all grab a cold one at lunch, which is pretty cool. I was working there on Saturdays quite a bit last year, and i would usually have one or two while working. Im a designer, and ive found that one or two beers will actually help loosen up my sketches a bit, while still staying productive, but after that its more of a hindrance to productivity.

For sure. My gf is not a big drinker either, and ive started to taper it off the last few years also. Hardly ever drink hard liquor anymore, and usually limit my beer drinking to social things and the occasional one at home. That being said, ive been getting more into craft brews the last couple years, and enjoy trying new stuff when i can.
